Eggs for breakfast at Côte with Nonie.

These three lovely weeks of Easter holiday are drawing to a close and Nonie and I met up for breakfast Saturday morning before we each went our separate ways for another couple of months. We went to Côte in Salisbury and both ordered eggs. I had Eggs Royale (pictured) aka eggs with smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce, and Nonie had a classic Eggs Benedict. Yum yum yum! Since Nonie the Catholic has just finished another crazy lent of giving up coffee, tea, tv series' and lots of other things that I definitely couldn't, it was a bit of a treat and an indulgence. The weather was horrible and it was wonderful sitting in the bay window with coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice and the Saturday Guardian, watching the rain outside. Eggs were nicely done and smoked salmon is always tasty although Non felt that the Hollandaise lacked a certain je ne sais quoi (probably vinegar, if you ask me). Quite pricey at £8.10 for two eggs Royale, although not outrageous considering that there was a generous amount of salmon. All in all, a successful breakfast to cheer up an overcast morning.
